Does the highest court in the land truly stand for justice when it lets a felon do what he wants and gives him a green light to assassinate? Is the highest court trying to protect people when it says corporations don’t have to listen to science? Are its members truly ethical when they won’t stand aside in cases that they have ties to and take money and vacations from interests in those cases?
These are questions that should be asked not just based on past actions such as overturning Roe v Wade, but with the Immunity case, Jan 6. Case, and overturning the Chevron Deference.
Let’s get into the chevron deference. In plain terms, this is something that allowed laws to be interpreted by experts, instead of a federal judge. Chevron deference has been used to help protect the food Americans eat and the air we breathe just to name a couple through agencies like the EPA and FDA (Turrentine, 2024). Now that that is gone, Americans are left with one less defense against large companies who care about profit over people.
Then we get into the immunity case. Despite the assertion by some justices that the no man is above the law, it seems that the one who put them there is. As payment, they have excused him because if it was done in office, presidents will get free passes to do a lot of things.
At this point, many nightmare scenarios have already happened, and with each ruling, there seems little that people in power can’t do. To give someone who worships power and cares little for actual ethics or morals an out, was talked about by Justice Sotomayor. Some of those scenarios, such as assassination and taking bribes are some examples (Barajas, J., Hendry, E., 2024).
Lastly, lets look at how you can pay and shop for your judge. The supreme court has now ruled that you can pay off your judge after the case. To use the words of the supreme court you can pay them after and it’s a gratuity. What this means for everyday Americans who don’t supply lavish vacations and gifts like right wingers have to Alito and Clarence (Donegan, M., 2024), is that you don’t have a voice.
So realize that corruption, deception, and money are what are actually being made great. America is just being held down and stepped on for all its worth by right wing, god fearing, prolife people who need to use and abuse you for that fancy house in heaven or just for the actual conservative value of revenge. Love is the last thing they care or think about.
